Typical Normandy Itinerary

 Please note: This is an example of a typical Normandy itinerary. We will create a custom itinerary, designed to meet your personal requests and interest, with "something for everyone" in your group. 

 

Day 1

This tour is completely escorted with a local tour guide and your tour operator. We will begin our Normandy tour with a visit to Giverny to visit Claude Monet's gardens and home and the Musee des Impressionnismes.  We will have a wonderful Norman lunch at Moulin de Forges inspired by the architecture of Queen Marit-Antionette's hamlet at Versailles. Following lunch we will drive to Rouen, the ancient capital of Normandy. We will have a short guided tour of this authentic Norman city including the Cathedral and the Joan de Arc square, where the saint met her death.    

Tonight we will stay at the Hotel de Bourgtheroulde in Rouen, a beautiful 5 star hotel from the 15th century listed as an historic property located in the heart of ancient Rouen.

Day 2

Today we will visit the famous Etretat cliffs, which inspired many artists for its seascapes and cliffs. We will have a walking tour thru the town and time to shop then on to a wonderful cooking class in the heart of the Pays de Caux in the private manor home of a celebrity chef. Regine will host an impressionist cooking class adapted to each season with local and fresh products, using menus inspired by Monet's cook notebooks. Then it is on to  Honfleur, walk down the cobblestone streets of Honfleur and discover the special atmosphere which inspired many of the master painters. Stroll through the town in the footsteps of the masters and discover the old world docks, the square, the church tower of Sainte Catherine and the many sights of this charming harbor town. Tonight we will stay at the at the 5 star Ferme Saint Simeon in Honfleur.

Day 3

Today we will visit Mont Saint Michel in the morning and this afternoon we will visit the Normandy D-Day beaches. We will begin the day at Mont Saint Michel, one of the most popular and iconic sights, the island of Mont Saint Michel is a truly unique place between the sea and sky! Your guide will tell you everything you want to know about the atmospheric medieval abbey perched on the top of this rocky island. You can chose to climb the steps to visit the abbey or just take this time to enjoy and shop this beautiful and unique village. We will have lunch at the famous Mere Poulard Restaurat in the center of the village. The afternoon will be spent in the company of an official guide and visiting the historic D-Day beaches, the American Cemetery and the Caen Memorial. Tonight we will continue our stay at the Ferme Saint Simeon in Honfleur.

Day 4

Today we will visit the Cote Fleurie of Deauville and Trouville and Pays d'Auge. Deauville is a prestigious seaside resort town on the Cote Fleurie of France's lower Normandy region. An upscale holiday destination since the 1800's it is known for its grand casino, golf courses, horse races and the American Film Festival of Deauville. Its wide sandy beaches is known for its 1920's Les Planches boardwalk and bathing cabins. The town has many chic boutiques, elegant " belle epoque" villas and half-timbered buildings.You will have a guided walking tour of Deauville where you can walk the old boardwalk and experience the atmosphere of the 1920's and the elegance of one of the premier resort towns in France. Lunch will be at the Auberge de la Source in Honfleur before our return to Paris. If you have completed your private tour with Provence and Tuscany Tours, you will be transferred to your hotel of choice. However, if you will be continuing on with another Provence and Tuscany Tour, you will be transferred to your hotel in Paris for the continuation of your private tour.
