Where do we meet on day 1 of the Provence Tour? Back to Top
 
Your tour hosts will meet you at the Avignon TGV train station or the Marseille Airport. Specific meeting location details will be included in your complete tour information package, which will be sent to you 20 days prior to the tour.  Your arrival information at the rail station or the airport, will be required at the time of your final payment to arrange for your transfers.

We depart our "home in Provence" in the morning in order to arrive at 8:30am at the Avignon TGV train station in Avignon, France. Trains depart back to Paris at 9:38 am, 10:05am and around noon. If you require transfers to the Marseille airport, we will leave at least three hours prior to your flight time.

 

What is the weather like in Provence? Back to Top
 
April, May, September and October, daytime temperatures in Provence range from the 70's- to mid-80's Fahrenheit with evenings being slightly cooler. June and July day time temperatures in Provence range from the 80's- to low-90's Fahrenheit with evenings being cooler. Typically it is sunny, but be prepared with proper rain gear.

Airfare to and from the tour, train fare to and from the tour, trip insurance (highly recommended) and any pre or post tour arrangements. Also, any personal purchases, and any meals that are not included in the itinerary.

If you appreciate the service your local tour guide(s) provide, we recommend each individual guest provide a gratuity at your own discretion. Tipping local tour guides is customary.

Our tours are designed for travelers from the first time traveler to the seasoned traveler. We like to include a variety of activities and interests, customized to your interests, so you can be as active or as relaxed as you chose. Most of all, we want you to enjoy your trip and truly experience "la bonne vie" in the unique Provencal fashion.     

 

How should I go about making my travel plans? Back to Top
 

Provence and Tuscany Tours is a land only tour operator, but we will be happy to assist you with your airline tickets and rail passes if needed. We also highly recommend and can assist you with travel protection insurance for your entire stay.    

We will be happy to recommend and assist you with a pre or post tour stay in France. We will need a copy of your flight and rail reservations in order to schedule your transfers along with your final payment in order to make arrangements for your arrival and departure transfers.

Yes. All tours are conducted in English and designed for an English speaking clientele; however, all of our certified local guides are multilingual.

How should I pack? Back to Top
 
Please limit your luggage to one checked bag and one carry-on. Try not to over pack. Pack comfortable, lightweight, casual clothing. It's vacation and we want our guests to feel and be as comfortable as possible during our daily activities and excursions. We suggest that you have comfortable walking shoes for daytime excursions and also a lightweight jacket for evenings. Although it is sunny most of the time, please bring some rain gear, just in case. Also, please check with your airline about charges for checked bags.  

 

What documents will I need for my trip? Back to Top
 

All travelers to France are required to have a valid passport. Please make 2 copies of your passport and personal identification before you depart. Keep one set of copies with you in a separate location from your travel documents, and leave the other set of copies with a contact at home. If you are not a U.S. citizen, please check with your consulate general for entry requirements.

Provence and Tuscany Tours will need copies of your passport and your air and rail information before your final payment date. We also require emergency contact information at the time of your final payment. 

 

When are payments and any tour deposits due? Back to Top
  • Initial deposit to confirm your tour participation is US$500 per person per tour within 7 days of your reservation.
  • Final payment is due 90 days prior to the 1st day of the tour. If you book your trip within 90 days of the 1st day of the tour, your payment in full will be due at time of booking.  
  • 30 days prior to your final payment due date, we will email you an invoice and payment form for you to complete and return to Provence Tours
  • Payment is in US Dollars by Visa, MasterCard, American Express via Paypal, cashier check, personal check or money order from a US Bank and by Bank Wire Transfer to the company's Corporate Account. Contact us for our Corporate Bank information if paying by wire transfer.
  • Please note: If you will be paying with a credit card, please send via Paypal   

 

What are your cancellation policies and penalties? Since we must prepay all costs for your tour in advance, we must apply penalties for cancellations as listed below.   Back to Top
  • Deposit of $500.00 per person within 7 days of confirmation  
  • 61-89 prior to trip:  50% of the total tour price
  • 0-60 days prior to trip: 100% of the total Tour price
  • We highly recommend trip insurance to cover cancellation penalties, medical emergencies and other unforeseen events.
  • We recommend Travel Guard Insurance for all of your travel/trip insurance needs. Travel insurance must be purchased with in 2 weeks of your deposit in order to cover any pre-existing conditions. We also recommend www.TravelInsured.com  for your travel insurance needs. Either insurance can be booked on line or by phone.   
  • There are always risks associated with travel. We strongly recommend that you purchase trip and medical/evacuation insurance. Provence and Tuscany Tours LLC., assumes no responsibility for any claim of damages, expenses or liability for any claims, injury, delay, inconvenience, irregularity, loss or damage to person or property or additional costs resulting directly or indirectly from causes that include, but are not limited to, theft, acts of government, delays, cancellations, weather, vehicle problems or acccidents, strikes, illness, quarantine, acts of terrorism or acts of God incurred before, during or after the tour including during transportation by air, car, van, boat or other conveyance. Participants agree that Provence and Tuscany Tours, LLC. shall not be liable, directly or indirectly, for any injury, death or damage for any reason whatsoever. Provence and Tuscany Tours, LLC. reserves the right to alter an itinerary or accommodations. The company also reserves the right to cancel a tour. Should that occur, Provence and Tuscany Tours, LLC.'s liability would be limited to a full refund of the reservation deposit and or fees paid, or to offer an alternate tour date. Provence and Tuscany Tours LLC. reserves the right to decline to accept any person at any time should that person's health, physical infirmity or mental condition impede the health, welfare or enjoyment of other tour participants.

  • Meals included: 7 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 3 dinners /Part of the fun and adventure is the option to explore some of the local bistros and cafe's on your own. It's always fun to share your "great finds" with your family and friends on the tour. 
  • Recommendations on some of our favorite local bistros and cafes for lunch/dinner on your own    
  • All tours and entrance fees where applicable
  • Visiting the most prestigious Provencal markets
